Damianos Zisimou is a visual artist who is based in Rotterdam and Nicosia. He holds a BFA from the Art Academy in Rome and an MA in Cultural Sociology from Erasmus University Rotterdam. Through a focus on the medium of painting, its process and materiality, his practice moves between painting, drawing and photography, visually exploring themes of masculinity and vulnerability, visibility and obscurity, and how these intersect with personal identities and wider cultural narratives.

Damianos has recently presented his work in several exhibitions, including Fluid Persistence, curated by Dr. Elena Stylianou at NiMAC, Nicosia, Cyprus; In a Bright Green Field, curated by Gary Carrion-Murayari at the Benaki Museum, Athens, Greece, in collaboration with the DESTE Foundation for Contemporary Art and the New Museum, New York. His work has also been shown at Soup!, Rotterdam, and at Fondazione Lac o Le Mon, Lecce, Italy, as well as in art fairs such as Art Athina (GR) and VIMA Art Fair (CY).

He is currently a Tech Fellow at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam, as well as a board member of the International Association of Photography and Theory (IAPT).
